Terms of Service
Effective date: October 30, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the TimeShield browser extension (the “Extension”), provided by JouriaTech (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the Extension you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the Extension.
1. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Extension for your own personal or internal business purposes, free of charge, subject to these Terms.
2. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Extension to monitor, restrict or control another person’s browsing without their knowledge and any consent required by law;
- reverse engineer, resell, sublicense or redistribute the Extension, or publish modified copies under the TimeShield brand or logo;
- use the Extension in any way that breaks applicable law or Chrome Web Store policies.
3. How Blocking Works and Its Limits
The Extension is a self-control and productivity tool. It is not an enterprise parental-control, security or content-filtering product and does not guarantee that any website will be blocked. Blocking can be bypassed, for example by disabling or removing the Extension, using another browser, or through sites and domains not covered by your rules. Do not rely on it to protect children or to meet legal, regulatory or workplace compliance obligations.
4. Your Data
Your settings and statistics are stored locally on your device. You are responsible for keeping backups if you need them. Our handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
5. PIN Protection
The optional PIN is a deterrent, not a security guarantee. Your PIN and recovery credentials are stored only as salted one-way PBKDF2 hashes, so we never see them. Keep your Recovery Key safe so you can reset a forgotten PIN without losing your locally stored data.
6. Pro Subscriptions and Licenses
Core features are free. Optional Pro plans (Monthly, Yearly, and Lifetime) unlock advanced features and are processed by third-party payment providers under their own terms. Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time; refunds are handled according to the checkout provider’s policies.
7. Third-Party Websites
The Extension may display the names or icons of third-party websites solely to identify them. All trademarks belong to their respective owners, and no affiliation or endorsement is implied. We are not responsible for the content or practices of any website you visit or block.
8. Updates and Availability
We may update, change or discontinue the Extension or any feature at any time. Updates may be installed automatically by your browser.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE EXTENSION WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR BLOCK ANY PARTICULAR CONTENT.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PRODUCTIVITY, PROFITS OR OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE EXTENSION. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it. Your license ends automatically if you breach these Terms.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. The effective date above shows the latest version. Material changes will be noted in the Extension’s release notes. Continuing to use the Extension after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection regulations of your place of residence apply.

Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 30, 2026
Short version: TimeShield is 100% private. We do not collect, track, sell, or share your personal data. Absolutely zero data leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to send us a support message.
1. Information Stored on Your Device
To work, the Extension stores the following in your browser’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) and, when Cloud Sync is enabled, in your browser’s built-in sync storage (chrome.storage.sync) across your signed-in Chrome devices. This data is never transmitted to our servers or to any third party:
- Your block list, selected categories, keywords and daily usage limits;
- Your settings, schedule, focus-session configuration and custom block page settings;
- Your optional PIN, stored only as a salted, one-way PBKDF2 cryptographic hash;
- Daily statistics (number of blocks, focus time, active browsing time on limited/blocked sites, passes used), kept locally for about 35 days;
- Per-site time used today for daily usage limits, reset locally each day.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your browsing history, page content, IP address, location, contacts or any personal identifier. The Extension contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and it never reads or logs the content of the pages you visit.
3. Why the Extension Needs Its Permissions
- declarativeNetRequest & webNavigation: to block or redirect distracting domains and Single-Page App sub-feeds (such as YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels) at the network layer without reading page content.
- storage (local, session & optional sync): to save your block lists, timers, and statistics locally on your device, and optionally sync settings across your signed-in Chrome devices when Cloud Sync is enabled.
- tabs: to read the addresses of open tabs so that active distracting tabs can be blocked immediately, and to open the dashboard or block page.
- alarms: to run timers for Pomodoro focus sessions, daily schedules, and usage limits.
- notifications: to show focus sprint start/finish, break reminders, and daily limit alerts.
- contextMenus: to add a convenient “Block this site” action to your right-click menu.
- history (optional, off by default): only activated if you explicitly click “Enable” under the Add-site field. Your recent history is queried strictly on-device to suggest domains as you type; it is never stored by TimeShield or sent anywhere, and you can revoke it anytime.
- favicon: to display site icons from your browser’s own local icon cache, without contacting any third-party icon service.
4. Contact Support Messages
If you send a support request via the official Contact form, we receive the information you enter (your email address, optional name, topic and message). If you choose to include diagnostic info, basic system metrics (Extension version, browser version, language and number of configured rules) are included. We use this information solely to answer your questions and resolve bugs, keep it only as long as needed for that purpose, and never sell it or use it for marketing.
5. Pro Checkout and License Keys
Upgrade buttons open a checkout page in a new tab. Payment details are handled entirely by that provider under its own privacy policy; TimeShield never sees or stores payment credentials. Your Pro license key and activation status are stored locally on your device.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Local data stays on your device until you change it, reset it, or uninstall the Extension. Uninstalling TimeShield deletes all stored settings and statistics immediately. You can also export a JSON backup or reset individual settings from the dashboard at any time.
7. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Compliance
The use of information obtained through browser permissions adheres strictly to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used exclusively to provide user-facing productivity features and is never transferred, sold, or used for advertising or creditworthiness.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Because TimeShield stores no personal browsing data on external servers, there is no remote browsing profile to delete. If you have sent us support correspondence and wish to have it deleted, contact us and we will fulfill your request within 30 days.
10. Changes to This Policy
We will update the effective date above when this policy changes. Material changes will also be noted in the Extension’s release notes.
